Highly Capable Program
The Sunnyside School District's Highly Capable Program strives to fit the needs of our students with unique learning needs through accelerated pace, autonomous learning, greater depth and breadth of content and the flexibility to adapt learning environments.
The Highly Capable Referral Window for the 2026-2027 school year is now open.
If you would like your student to be tested and considered for the Highly Capable program, please complete the referral packet and return to your student's school by December 15, 2025.
Sunnyside School District is now accepting applications for the Highly Capable Program for students currently attending kindergarten through eleventh grade.
Highly capable students are students who perform or show potential for performing at significantly advanced academic levels when compared with others of their age, experiences, or environments.
If you would like your student to be tested and considered for this program, please contact your child’s school to pick up a referral packet or follow the links below. The referral window will be open from November 12 through December 15, 2025. Your student will then be screened and possibly tested during the weeks of January 5, 2026 through February 6, 2026.
Placement into the Highly Capable program will take effect during the 2026-27 school year.

El Programa para Alumnos de Altas Capacidades del Distrito Escolar de Sunnyside se esfuerza por satisfacer las necesidades de nuestros estudiantes con necesidades de aprendizaje únicas a través de un ritmo acelerado, aprendizaje autónomo, mayor profundidad y amplitud de contenido y la flexibilidad para adaptar los entornos de aprendizaje.
El Distrito Escolar de Sunnyside está aceptando aplicaciones para el Programa de Altamente Capacitados y Dotados para los alumnos actualmente asistiendo el kinder a grado 11. Los alumnos altamente capacitados y dotados son alumnos que realizan o muestran potencial para progresar en niveles académicos significativamente avanzados en comparación con otros de su edad, experiencias o entornos.
Si usted desea que su estudiante sea examinado y considerado para este programa, por favor comuníquese con la escuela de su hijo para recoger un paquete de referencia o siga los enlaces de abajo. El plazo de referencia estará abierto del 12 de noviembre al 15 de diciembre de 2025. Su estudiante será pre-evaluado y posiblemente examinado durante las semanas del 5 de enero de 2026 hasta el 6 de febrero de 2026.
La ubicación en el programa de Alta Capacidad tomará efecto durante el año escolar 2026-27.
