We have developed a schedule for our “mini benefit fairs”.  The purpose of these events is to assist employees with logging into their My SEBB account, electing coverage, completing attestations and uploading their dependent verifications (bring your documents with you).  You are encouraged to continue to research the plans on the SEBB website and in the benefit booklet. The HR/Payroll office will be available for support but is not able to make recommendations on the plan you should choose.  We will answer questions about the benefits that are included to the best of our abilities. Click on the link below to subscribe to the calendar or see the schedules below. If you are unable to attend the meeting held in your own building, you are welcome to attend at another site.  We have also included links to some helpful resources to continue your research.

Health Insurance & Benefits Information Installment 5

Today is the first day of SEBB open enrollment.

We have received some questions about the SEBB website and have had employees have some issues with logging on. Please don’t feel pressured to go and make your health plan choices today.  Open enrollment is from October 1 - November 15th. While we don’t encourage anyone to wait until the last day, you can definitely take your time and look at enrolling after the first week of October.

We have had a few calls that the SEBB website is not working correctly, this is most likely due to the heavy amount of traffic as every district in the state began their open enrollment today.  When you do visit the website you can click on the Virtual Benefit Fair for more information about plans. There will also be an interactive virtual assistant (ALEX) that will give you plan recommendations but it is delayed and will not be available until October 3rd.

We are currently working with Principals and Directors to schedule visits to all of your sites to provide technical support with your online enrollment.

We will share this schedule once it is finalized.

We will also be sharing more information in the next few days that we have learned about provider networks on the available plans.

The enrollment guides that you have received in the mail do have errors in them.  For the most correct and up to date information use the link below.

There is a helpful video to help you navigate your SEBB my account.  Click below to watch it.

Most of you should have received an email from Ivy @ Informed K12 today notifying you of your eligibility.  Please electronically sign and submit this form. This form is a required form that we have to keep on file.  It does not enroll you in benefits.

Health Insurance & Benefits Information Installment 4

One of the new requirements of SEBB is that we must notify all employees if they are ELIGIBLE or NOT ELIGIBLE for benefits.  You will receive an electronic notification from Ivy Weets via Informed K12 this week. You will need to electronically sign and submit this form.  This process works best from a computer, employees have had issues submitting from a phone.

Speaking of Eligibility……..

SEBB rules for eligibility are slightly different than our current health plans.  One of the main differences pertains to domestic partners. Only legal spouses or state-registered domestic partners can be enrolled in your SEBB plan.  You will also need to submit documents to verify all of the dependents that you cover (see more about dependent verification).

Eligible school employees enrolled in SEBB benefits may enroll the following dependents:

Children are defined as:

Children with whom you have a parent-child relationship as defined in RCW 26.26.101 except when parental rights have been terminated. This definition includes:

  • Your children
  • Children of your spouse
  • Children for whom you have assumed a legal obligation for total or partial support in anticipation of adoption
  • Children of your state-registered domestic partner
  • Children specified in a court order or divorce decree to provide support or health care coverage.

About dependent verification

If you are enrolling dependents on your SEBB Program benefits account, you will be required to provide evidence of your dependents’ eligibility. All dependents must be verified during the SEBB Program’s First Annual Open Enrollment, October 1 through November 15, 2019, before they can be enrolled under your coverage, even if you have already verified their eligibility with your employer.

You can upload dependent verification documents in SEBB My Account.   We will provide more information soon about setting up your SEBB My Account.

Health Insurance & Benefits Information Installment 3

All school employees in the State of Washington will have new health coverage as of January 1st.  This new coverage is called SEBB (School Employees Benefit Board) and is administered by the Washington State Health Care Authority.

Open enrollment for this coverage will be October 1 - November 15th.  All eligible employees must take action and enroll or waive coverage. If you do not enroll or waive you will be defaulted into a plan.  You will enroll in this coverage online.

The following resources will help you choose your new Medical, Dental, and Vision plans.

  • The Initial Enrollment guide has been mailed to all employees’ home addresses.  It is also available online.  Initial Enrollment guide
  • The SEBB website will be launching an interactive online tool to help you choose your health plan on October 1st.  This tool is called ALEX. It is an easy to use interactive program. It will ask you questions about your health needs and provide an insurance recommendation depending on your responses.
  • The SEBB website will also be launching a virtual benefit fair on October 1st.
  • The SEBB board will be hosting large benefit fairs throughout the state.  The two in our area are:
  1.  September 30th, 4-8 pm,  Howard Johnson Hotel, Orchard Room, 9 N 9th St, Yakima
  2. October 2nd, 3-8 pm, Columbia Basin College, Gjerde Atrium, 2600 N 20th Ave, Pasco To see the full schedule click here:   SEBB benefit fair schedule
  • The HR/Payroll office is bringing the benefit fair to you. Instead of having one large benefit fair, we will be visiting each of our sites to be able to provide support and technical assistance for any employees that need help with the online enrollment.  We will be publishing a schedule for our visits next week.

Our office will continue to share information with you in these Health and Benefit Installments.  We will all continue to learn together!

Health Insurance & Benefits Information Installment 2 We are in our final days of Premera/Kaiser/Assurant open enrollment. The last day to make changes is Monday, 9/30/2019.

This open enrollment is only for November & December coverage.  All plan prices and coverages are remaining the same through December 31st.  If you do not need to add or drop dependents or change plans you do not need to do anything for this open enrollment.

Price sheets with the updated state allocation are available on the district website under the HR/Payroll, Health Insurance page.

You may notice a change on your out of pocket for insurance on your October check as we will re-pool benefit dollars for the October and November payroll that will pay your November and December health insurance.  These amounts will be as stated on the price sheet or less dependent on pooling.

SEBB open enrollment for January 1 coverage starts October 1st - November 15th.
