Positive Case Protocol

Positive Case Protocol

Here you will find the steps Sunnyside School District will take when a positive COVID-19 case has been identified.

Staff and students should be prepared for the possibility of quarantine or isolation. Quarantining or isolating staff and students are steps to prevent the rapid spread of the virus. While we will take every step to prevent the need to quarantine or isolate at all, we are trusting staff, parents and students to openly communicate symptoms and the possibility of exposure.

While quarantine and isolation are challenging, they are absolutely necessary in certain instances to keep everyone safe.

Will I be contacted about a positive case of COVID-19 at my workplace?

Once contact tracing has been completed AND if you have been in close contact (within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more) with the person who tested positive, you will be contacted by the Sunnyside School District Building Coordinator and/or the Yakima Health District and given guidance on testing and quarantine.

If someone in building has tested positive for COVID-19 and it has been determined through contact tracing that you WERE NOT a close contact, you will be notified by email.  The names of those who have tested positive will not be shared as that is a violation of HIPPA.
